Well my plans of starting a Project 365 failed to get off the ground. It seems as though my photography has taken to roll of travel photography and I find that I am impressing myself with some of my shots. I really enjoy taking photos of new places that Nat and I travel to. I am hoping to keep improving my "craft" and continue to take shots. Keep checking http://www.flickr.com/photos/jonwinkels for new photos I seem to be slowing down a bit but that is just do to less travel and less photos that I deem worthy of uploading :) Cheers!

So I took this shot on Monday April 12th. I waited in the woods til about 7:45 for the sun to hit the tree correctly. It turned out exactly how I imagined. I used auto exposure settings -2 0 +2. The giz was with me and was shivering as it was pretty cold outside in the shade. At one point a bull terrier came into the woods and scared me as he snuck up on me... Thats it for now... check out my other new pics @ http://www.flickr.com/jonwinkels

So this is my first post! I am blogging from a TLF room in Charleston AFB... It took me almost 5 hours to get my blog migrated from the Google DNSs and over to my own domain! After that was finished I customized a free blog template and viola! my the beginning of my photo blog.
I am considering starting a 365 Project. It is a challenging undertaking the motivates you to compose and shoot a photograph everyday for an entire year. Most people choose themselves as the subject in each photo. However, I am going to be taking full advantage of our time in England and use inspiration from our surroundings. I have not decided an official start date as of now... I have been spending time preparing my photography skills and digital space to create a condusive environment for best case scenario posting, meaning I am a procrastinator and I know that the only way I will stay on task and on time is if I make it easy on myself and streamline my site for efficiency. The biggest concern I have is that I am a perfectionist when it comes to post processing of anything digital, photography included, just ask my wife! So, I will strive to shoot, process, and post my daily photos quickly. This means that I will need to create my own Photoshop actions and other automated postprocessing effects. This will be part of my learning expierence with Project 365! So I won't spend a lot of time trying to do this right away. I am so excited to begin this project! Next post will be an introduction of me, my family, and gear. Later...
